Our data and analysis have to pass our 4 i’s test:

  • Insightful
  • Independent
  • Incisive
  • Impactful

Insightful, Independent, Incisive, Impactful People Data

At MI-Say our purpose is to help create a better work-life for everyone and we aim to do that by enabling our clients to make brilliant decisions that will help them attract, engage, and retain brilliant people.

When developing the MI-Say service and platform, it was important to us that the data and analysis we provide clients fulfils four important criteria:

Insightful

MI-Say is all about ‘Meaningful Insight’.  The definition of insight is ‘the capacity to gain an accurate and deep understanding of someone or something’.  Insight is also that sense of knowing something you didn’t know before and the data we collect on behalf of our clients certainly creates a sense of understanding and knowing. When we review exit and starter feedback with our clients, we find that it either confirms something they knew intuitively but didn’t have the data to prove it, or very often, it tells them something that they didn’t know.

Independent

People will share their feedback and perspectives more freely if they feel psychologically safe to do so. The way we collect, analyse and report data protects anonymity and we have found that people value our independence and feel more comfortable in sharing their feedback with candour.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s Employee Turnover and Retention report states:

“Getting accurate information from leavers can be difficult because the reasons people give for their resignation can differ from their genuine reason for leaving. Individuals may be reluctant to voice criticism of their managers, colleagues or the organisation generally, preferring to give some less contentious reason for their departure.

Using an external provider to conduct exit interviews will help employers capture more accurate data about why people are leaving, as individuals are more willing to be honest when there is reassurance of anonymity” (CIPD, 2021)”.

Our independence and approach enables us to get better, more accurate information.

Incisive

The purpose of collecting and analysing any data is to drive and enable better decision-making.  It is important to us that our clients have data that helps them make focused decisions that leads to better outcomes for all.

In a world where we have competing and shifting priorities and increasing squeeze on budgets, we want clients to be able to channel their efforts and home in on the actions that will have greatest impact. We don’t want companies to waste precious time, energy and resources on interventions that yield little return.

Exit interviews have traditionally been one dimensional, only really gathering surface feedback about why someone chose to leave.  We believe human decision-making is so much more sophisticated and our surveys and interviews are designed to get under the skin of that decision by exploring all influencing factors.

We learn about the employee experience and the opinions and perspectives people hold about whether they could and would recommend their employer to others.

This gives clients more accurate and actionable data with which to make decisions.

Impactful

We want to give employees a voice and we know from our experience and research that people will more readily use their voice if they feel it has an impact.  Exit interviews have often been criticised because nothing happens as a result of them.  People feel less inclined to be candid in their feedback because they see no point.

Insightful, independent and incisive data drives better and more impactful action that delivers tangible results.  That is at the core of what we do.  If we want to fulfil our purpose of helping create a better work-life for everyone, we want to help organisations listen to their peoples’ perspectives, experiences and feedback and for that to be a catalyst for positive change.
